Blackhead Cottage provides farmstay-style bed and breakfast accommodation in a peaceful, rural valley on the Southern Scenic Route, close to Dunedin city. Only 10 to 15 minutes drive to the centre of town, it is a convenient base from which to explore Dunedin and its attractions while enjoying the tranquility and beauty of the southern Dunedin coast. Whether you're coming to Dunedin for a holiday, attending your child's graduation ceremony or a Highlander's rugby match, Blackhead Cottage provides a relaxing and comfortable place to stay.
Blackhead Cottage is a warm, tastefully decorated cottage set in a large established garden. Enjoy a drink on the sunny deck, take a short walk over our farmland to see spectacular cliff top views (gumboots provided!) or walk or drive to nearby Tunnel Beach or Blackhead Beach.

The Cottage
The cottage has one bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a sunny lounge / dining area with a double sofa bed, and a bathroom with corner bath. The lounge opens to a north-facing deck with views out over the valley. A heatpump keeps the cottage cosy on the coldest days. Facilities include freeview TV, DVD player, CD player, bath, electric blanket, fridge, toaster, iron, hairdryer and BBQ. A washing machine is available for use in the main house. There are books and games for wet days. A selection of teas and plunger coffee are provided. A continental breakfast including cereals, fruit, yoghurt, croissants, toast and juice is provided to the cottage each evening, allowing you to enjoy breakfast at your leisure the following day. For dinner, Dunedin has numerous cafe/bars, restaurants and takeaways a short drive away, or picnic on the deck or overlooking the cliffs. Children are welcome. We have a swing, sandpit, climbing ropes and trampoline which little ones are welcome to share with our children and plenty of space to run around. A high chair and portacot are available. You are welcome to wander over our farmland and enjoy stunning coastal views or relax in our large, sheltered garden.

History
The cottage is adjacent to the original farmhouse in the valley, built by an early Irish settler, John Knox, in approximately 1870. The property was originally called Nobbler's Farm and is now home to John's great grandson and family.
